Sigma Pharmaceuticals plc are pleased to announce that they have adopted the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust as their chosen sponsored Charity for 2020.
Established in 1997, the Air Ambulance Service is a charity funded service and is kept airborne thanks to the generosity of those who make donations, fundraisers and volunteers in aid of the EHAAT. This is a vital, life-saving service, serving Essex and Herts.
Thanks to their generous supporters, they have been able to welcome their first purchased helicopter, the Agusta Westland 169 into their fleet.
At the recent Biz4Biz awards ceremony where Sigma were winners in the Best Family Business and overall Best Company of the Year categories, the Air Ambulance Service was the chosen charity for the evening. Sigma’s Chairman Dr Bharat Shah CBE immediately caught the vision and set out to sponsor this worthy charity for the company’s 2020 charity of the year. This follows hard on the heels of other charities that Sigma have annually sponsored, like the Watford Workshop in 2018 and the New Hope Charity in 2019, just to name a couple.
Plans are now in motion to fly out a ‘past recipient patient’ of the service and an EHAAT representative to Sigma’s 2020 Annual Conference in the Philippines, where the service will be given high media exposure and invitations for sponsorship and donations from within the UK independent pharmacy community.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr Shah said “I didn’t realise this worthy charity was self- funding and entirely dependent upon the generosity of the public purse. If more people were made aware of this, it would make a huge difference to the reliance on that ‘golden hour’ of treatment after a major trauma, when it is crucial to fly in the Air Ambulances to get the patient to the hospital in time. My own family were involved in a major road accident and the Air Ambulance Service saved the lives of two of my own family”
