The July Category M update had some shocking information that will bring extra pressure to pharmacies.
The headline changes are:
- Number of products taken out of July Category M – 1
- Number of new products added to Category M – 5
- Number of products reduced in price – 608
- Number of products increased in price 48
Additionally, from 1 July 2021, medicine margin has been adjusted downwards by £48.9 million per quarter (circa £16.3 million per month) through Category M reimbursement prices. This means that the approximate amount of money taken out of Category M between July 2021 and Mar 2022 is £147milllion.
