OVERALL PURPOSE

The role of a Sigma Delivery Driver is more than to ensure that all IDT’s and deliveries allocated for any given day are completed on time and in full and ensuring that Transport compliance, Health & Safety and GDP requirements are adhered to at all times.

Listed below are some of the main tasks that are expected to be performed by the HGV Driver. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and employees are expected to perform any other transport related tasks upon being asked to do so.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete all relevant GDP, Transport and Health & Safety Training
  • Follow all Transport Standard Operating Procedures
  • Complete a digital Daily Pre-shift check using the app provided to a good standard and ensure that all defects are highlighted on the app and to a member of the Transport Management Team.
  • Ensure the vehicle is within temperature prior to any loading and to report any temperature deviation to the Transport Team as soon as possible.
  • Load the vehicle in a safe, organised way to reduce damage to products using all equipment provided including safety bars, strapping and pump truck stops.
  • Complete IDT’s as and when required within working time ensuring that all reversing is completed with a banksman and in a safe manner.
  • Complete trunking to our sites in West Molesey and Birmingham on time and to return any empty totes, driver returns or pallets required in a safe manner while ensuring the transfer paperwork is filled out correctly and returned daily at the end of the trip.
  • Any bulk deliveries made with our fleet of HGV’s must be completed in a safe manner while always adhering to any site rules at the visiting depot.
  • Ensuring that throughout your working day that all Tachograph EU rules and WTD rules are adhered to. Downloading your tachograph on a weekly basis.
  • To ensure that all accidents are immediately reported to the Transport Management Team and correct details obtained from any third party involved.
  • To ensure that the Transport Policy & procedures and Drivers Handbook are adhered to at all times.
  • Vehicles are kept clean inside and out.
  • Any other jobs that are deemed appropriate by the Transport Management Team

Key Skills

Essential

  • Minimum Class C Drivers licence
  • CPC card
  • Digital tachograph card
  • Highly motivated and proactive individual

Knowledge and Experience

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

LOCATION

This post is based at the HD House with occasional travel to the other Sigma Pharmaceutical or 3rd party within a 25 mile radius of the Sigma Pharmaceutical PLC Headquarters

COMPANY BENEFITS
